FRECA racer suffers spinal injuries in Imola sausage kerb accident
Irish FRECA driver Adam Fitzgerald has suffered spinal fractures after an incident at Imola over sausage kerbs.
The Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine is at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix venue this weekend, with Fitzgerald in his first season in the championship.
He finished 22nd in the opening round but landed heavily after getting airborne over the sausage kerbs at Turn 1.
A team spokesperson has confirmed he suffered three fractured vertebrae but luckily avoided any spinal cord injury.
His Racing Performance Motorsport team posted on Instagram their disdain about the presence of the sausage kerbs, also responsible for launching F3 racer Alex Peroni at Monza in 2019.
