Ferdinand dejected as Cole celebrates Chelsea win over Man Utd
Chelsea‘s memorable 4-3 comeback victory against Man Utd sparked wild celebrations at Stamford Bridge at the expense of TNT Sports pundit and Red Devils legend Rio Ferdinand.
Rio Ferdinand appeared a broken man after Chelsea’s late 4-3 comeback win against Manchester United.
The Red Devils legend was covering Thursday night’s Premier League clash for TNT Sports alongside Chelsea icon Joe Cole. Sadly for Ferdinand, the former centre-back watched on as his old club threw away three points despite being 3-2 ahead in the 99th minute.
Cole Palmer scored his second of the night from the penalty spot a minute later to equalise. He then netted the Premier League’s latest-ever winner with a deflected effort following a short corner in the 101st minute, sending Stamford Bridge into raptures.
Pundit Cole, 42, was filmed celebrating wildly on the sidelines, hugging his fellow Blues supporters, jumping up and down, and clapping. Cole, after simmering down slightly, then pointed out his colleague’s distraught reaction to the camera.
Ferdinand, who played 455 Games for United, had a face like thunder as he watched the celebrations and replay on a screen, seemingly in disbelief at how Erik ten Hag’s men conceded two goals in quick succession.
And fans on social media replied to the clip by poking fun at Ferdinand. One X user pointed out: “Rio’s face, silent rage,” while another cheekily asked: “Are u ok Rio?”
A third wrote: “The planet Rio’s head was in hasn’t even been discovered yet,” and a fourth added: “Rio gently took his L. Gone into hiding.”
