FC Cincinnati welcomes Toronto FC to TQL Stadium Sunday in the season-opening match for both teams at 2:30 p.m. ET (Apple TV). Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the FC Cincinnati vs. Toronto FC odds, and make our best expert MLS picks and predictions.

FCC finished atop the Eastern Conference last season and won the Supporters’ Shield for most overall points with a few games to go. Cincinnati lost star F Brandon Vazquez in the offseason, but did keep league MVP M Lucho Acosta. FCC should have another strong season and kicked it off Thursday beating Cavalier 2-0 in the 1st leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Toronto FC didn’t make the Champions Cup, so this will be their 1st non-preseason action. Toronto was last in the East with 22 points last season, 47 points behind Cincinnati. It ended with 0 road wins and a 0-4-13 away record. Toronto doesn’t have too many high-profile players but did retain former Italian star F Lorenzo Insigne, who ended last season with 8 combined goals and assists, tied for the most on the team.

FC Cincinnati vs. Toronto FC picks and predictions

Prediction

FC Cincinnati 2, Toronto FC 0

Moneyline (ML)

PASS.

FC Cincinnati will likely lose a step this season. Several pivotal players from last season’s roster left, so backing its moneyline option at -250 is not a good option.

However, Cincinnati won 13 of 17 home games while Toronto won 0 road games last season, making either other option also unwise. Completely avoid a moneyline play.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 3.5 (-165).

FC Cincinnati lost arguably its 2nd-best midfielder in Alvaro Barreal, who will now be playing in Brazil. They also lost a few other strong attacking players, including Vazquez. Cincinnati didn’t dominate in its 1st match as it was expected to. It may struggle to score.

That said, Toronto averaged 0.76 goals per game last season and had, by far, the fewest goals scored, netting 26 with the next fewest in the East at 35 (NYCFC). Toronto didn’t add much firepower and may again find it difficult to score with any consistency.

While the odds are juiced, still put a full unit on UNDER 3.5 (-165). The alternate Under 2.5 (+145) might even be worth considering.
