Easton Stick contract details: How much money does the Chargers QB make?

The Los Angeles Chargers lost their starting quarterback Justin Herbert for the rest of the season due to a fracture in his right index finger. Now, they turn to backup quarterback Easton Stick to take the reins for the remainder of the year.

Easton Stick was a fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, with the Chargers selecting him 166th overall. Since then, he has been mostly on the bench as they selected Herbert sixth overall in the draft the following year. After that, Stick held the third-string role behind Herbert and Chase Daniel for both the 2021 and 2022 season.

In this past offseason, ahead of the 2023 season, Stick re-signed with the Chargers and won the backup role over rookie Max Duggan. Overall, in the four years since he joined the league, Stick has only appeared in two NFL Games, the latest one being last week when he took over for Herbert after the injury. Now, he will finally have the opportunity to prove that he is a top option as the Chargers backup quarterback.

Now, Stick is on a one-year contract with the Chargers after signing the extension, worth up to $1.8 million with a $152,500 signing bonus and $1.5 million in guaranteed money. This season, he is earning a base salary of $1,647,500 with a cap hit of $1,232,500. By the end of this season, he will have earned $5.06 million.

At this point, Stick has no deal going forward after this 2023 season ends. So these next four games will be important for Stick heading into the 2024 free agency.
