In the offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles made headlines by signing former New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley. Let’s take a look at Barkley’s game data from last season to see how he performed from a statistical perspective.

In the 14 Games that Saquon Barkley played for the New York Giants in the 2023 NFL regular season, Barkley accumulated a robust 964 rushing yards, six receiving touchdowns, 41 receptions, 280 receiving yards, and added four receiving touchdowns.

More recently, In the Philadelphia Eagles 34-29 win over the Packers two weeks ago, Saquon Barkley certainly made a splash in his debut as an Eagle. More specifically, in the Eagles win over the Packers, Barkley accumulated a massive 36.2 Draftkings points.

Talented Tampa Bay wide receiver Chris Godwin has been a key contributor to the Buccaneers offense in 2024. Let’s review Godwin’s relevant player data to better shed light on my previous statement.

In the three Games that Chris Godwin has played for the Tampa Buccaneers in the 2024, Tampa Bay quarterback Baker Mayfield has targeted Godwin a whopping 25 times. In those 25 targets just mentioned, Godwin has compiled 21 receptions, 253 receiving yards, and three receiving touchdowns.

From a general perspective, I certainly like Godwin’s matchup in this game. The Philadelphia Eagles have had clear issues with defending slot receivers this season. Let me be more specific. The Eagles are ranked 32nd in the NFL defending slot receivers. Keep in mind that the NFL has 32 teams in the entire league. Clearly, being ranked 32nd in any defensive category is not good.

I fully expect Chris Godwin to continue his outstanding play versus a vulnerable Philadelphia Eagles secondary on Sunday afternoon.
