Draftkings Best Memorial Tournament First Round Picks 6/6/24

This Thursday, Draftkings Golf fans will be presented with the first round of the Memorial Tournament. Let’s take a look at the first round of this event from a DFS perspective.

Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections, let’s review where the first round of the Memorial Tournament will be played.

The first round of the 2024 Memorial Tournament will be played at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. The Golf course is a par 72 that measures approximately 7,569 yards.

I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

Here are my DraftKings player selections for the first round of the 2024 Memorial Tournament.

Draftkings First Round Showdown Picks

Collin Morikawa $10,000

The 2020 PGA Championship winner arrives at this week’s event in rather good form. Morikawa has accumulated five consecutive top 16 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a fourth-place result at the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge two weeks ago.

In relation to this week’s 2024 Memorial Tournament field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Collin Morikawa ranks fourth in strokes gained tee to green, fourth in birdie or better percentage, and fourth in strokes gained on par fours.

In conclusion, I fully expect that Collin Morikawa will continue his outstanding play at this week’s 2024 Memorial Tournament.

Tony Finau $8,300

The talented American has accumulated four top 18 finishes in his last six tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a second-place result at the 2024 Texas Children’s Houston Open in April.

In relation to this week’s 2024 Memorial Tournament field, in the last 36 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Tony Finau ranks fifth in strokes gained approach, fifth in GIR (greens in regulation), and second in proximity to the hole.

Tony Finau has played well at the Muirfield Village Golf Club previously. Finau finished eighth at the 2020 Memorial Tournament.

Justin Rose $6,900

Three weeks ago, Justin Rose fired a third round 64 at the 2024 PGA Championship on his way to an eventual sixth place finish.

Due to Justin Rose posting a top ten finish at the 2024 PGA Championship I decided to take a close look at the relevant player statistics for the event to see how Rose fared relative to the field.

Upon the completion of four rounds of comPetitive play at the 2024 PGA Championship, in relation to the field, Justin Rose ranked third in strokes gained putting (7.6), tenth in total birdies made (20), ninth in bogey avoidance (6), and sixth in total Draftkings points scored (104.1).

Justin Rose certainly checks the box for me when it comes to previous event/course History. Let me be more specific. Since 2015, Justin Rose has played the Memorial Tournament five times. In those five tournaments just mentioned, Rose has accumulated an impressive three top 13 finishes, including a sixth-place result at the 2018 Memorial Tournament.
