The long wait is over! After an eventful offseason that featured plenty of moves that shook up the sport, the MLB regular season is finally here. While there are plenty of ways to wager on all of the action on the diamond this season, one of the quickest bets you can make is if a run will be scored in the first inning. There is still value to be had in this market, so it’s no wonder that these bets have become very popular over time. If you don’t like sweating out your wagers for 3 hours, this one will take only about 15 minutes.

I ended last season on a 42-23 run with my YRFI/NRFI plays and picked up a win to start this season, so let’s keep that momentum going! But before we dive in, don’t forget to check out our MLB picks for today’s Seoul Series matchup.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres: NRFI (-104)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

These are two NL West division rivals that are extremely familiar with each other, and it’s no surprise that we were treated to a very entertaining contest on Wednesday. Much like Tyler Glasnow before him, Yoshinobu Yamamoto was one of the major moves that this Los Angeles front office made in the offseason and he will make his first career start as a Dodger on Thursday. Yamamoto will take on Joe Musgrove, who is no stranger to this rivalry and has faced the Dodgers a number of times since joining the Padres back in 2021.

An important thing to take stock of heading into this Game is that the Gocheok Sky Dome is 325 feet to left and right field and 400 feet to dead center. The fence is 12 feet high as well, so it wouldn’t surprise me if we don’t see a home run in Thursday’s Game either. Much like yesterday’s Game, I’m expecting Yamamoto and Musgrove to treat us to a great pitching matchup. Yamamoto struggled in spring training, but he’s still going to be an unknown for this Padres lineup. And while Musgrove will have to face the formidable trio of Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani at the top of the Dodgers lineup, his largely excellent numbers over the past few seasons speak for themselves. Not many Dodgers players have enjoyed success against Musgrove, so let’s back the NRFI for a second straight Game on Thursday.
