Arsenal have finally agreed to the club-record signing of West Ham United's former captain Declan Rice.

The Gunners had long identified Rice as their priority midfield signing this summer, and after fighting off Premier League rivals, including Manchester City, as well as Bayern Munich, the club have unveiled the 24-year-old as their new pillar in midfield.

Rice has joined £105m - a record fee among British players - and has been tasked with transforming Arsenal into title winners after their impressive 2022/23 campaign. This lofty ambition is expected to earn Rice a pretty penny at the Emirates Stadium.

Declan Rice's West Ham salary

Rice last extended his West Ham contract in 2018 and has since rejected several extensions in a bid to earn a move away.

As a result, Rice has been earning £60,000 a week for the past five years and in 2022/23, he was the Hammers' 16th-highest earner.

2022 summer arrival Lucas Paqueta is currently the highest-paid at the club, bringing in £150,000 a week, while the likes of Alphonse Areola, Emerson Palmieri, Thilo Kehrer, Tomas Soucek, and Lukasz Fabianski were all earning more than the West Ham captain last season.

Declan Rice's reported Arsenal salary

As clubs and players are naturally secretive regarding the wages of individual players, Rice's reported salary in north London is mere speculation. However, there's no doubt that the Gunners will considerably boost his pay packet.

Reports suggest Rice will more than quadruple his West Ham salary and earn £250,000 a week at Arsenal. The Englishman's monthly salary would thus be £1m and he'll return £13m yearly with the Gunners if those figures prove to be accurate.

Despite his arrival breaking Arsenal's and the British transfer record, Rice, should he be earning £250,000 a week, will not be the club's highest earner.

Gabriel Jesus penned a deal worth £265,000 a week last summer, making the Brazilian the club's highest-paid player at the time. However, there are reports suggesting Kai Havertz could've usurped Jesus. The German will reportedly earn upwards of £330,000 a week after joining the club from Chelsea this summer in a £65m deal.

Rice's reported wage would make him the third-highest earner at the club, ahead of Thomas Partey (£200,000), Bukayo Saka (£195,000), William Saliba (£192,000) and Gabriel Martinelli (£180,000). Saka, Saliba and Martinelli all recently extended their deals with the Gunners which has seen their salaries soar. Aaron Ramsdale also doubled his money when he penned an extension.

Arsenal are certainly pushing the boat out on the wages front, but instead of handing out wads of cash to ageing stars, they're now securing the futures of several protagonists in Mikel Arteta's project.
