The Creighton Bluejays come into this Game looking to build on a decent 2024-25 season, finishing 25-10 overall including a 14-6 mark in Big East play. Creighton lost to Providence in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament but still got invited to the NCAA tournament with an at-large bid. The Bluejays took out Akron and Oregon in the first two rounds of the Big Dance before falling to Tennessee in the Sweet 16. The Bluejays lost a fair bit of talent from last year, including the likes of Trey Alexander, Baylor Scheierman, and Francisco Farabello.

The good news for Creighton is that they brought back Ryan Kalkbrenner (17.3 PPG, 7.6 RPG) and Steven Ashworth (11.1 PPG, 4.2 APG) while also bringing in a pair of strong transfers in Pop Isaacs (15.8 PPG, 3.5 APG) from Texas Tech and Jamiya Neal (11 PPG, 5.4 RPG) from Arizona State. Time will tell if Creighton can replicate their success and make another trip into the NCAA tournament and a deep run come March. I’m on Creighton here. UTRGV hung around with Nebraska, but this Creighton team is loaded once again and is not a team I’m looking to step in front of when UTRGV is the alternative. Creighton beat up on lesser opposition in the non-conference portion of their schedule last year, with wins by 51 over Florida A&M, 29 over North Dakota State, and 32 over Texas Southern. I think UTRGV suffers the same fate. Give me Creighton.
