The Houston Christian Huskies and the Creighton Bluejays meet Wednesday in College Basketball action from CenturyLink Center Omaha. Here’s a Creighton vs Houston Christian prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Creighton vs Houston Christian pick.

Houston Christian Huskies Betting Preview

The Huskies’ year began with a relatively easy matchup versus Avila. Houston Christian scored 49 points in the second half to finish off an 86-59 opener blowout. Bryson Dawkins was the team leader with 18 points, while both Demari Williams and Julian Mackey added 11 points each.

Game two versus Texas didn’t go quite so well for the Huskies. Houston Christian was down 42-35 by the break and limped to a 90-59 loss after a 48-24 deficit in the second half. Mackey posted 20 points and four rebounds this tie, while Dawkins had 13 points.

Creighton Bluejays Betting Preview

Over on the Creighton side, they’ve got a couple of wins in the can so far. The Bluejays were up on UTRGV 46-38 at halftime in their opener and cruised to the win 99-86. Ryan Kalkbrenner went off for 49 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.

On Sunday in Game two versus Fairleigh Dickinson, the Bluejays took a 50-34 edge into the locker room. After a 46-36 second half, Creighton had a blowout win 96-70. Kalkbrenner led the team again this time, notching 24 points and six rebounds.

Why the Creighton Bluejays will win

  • Creighton has won each of its last nine night games against non-conference opponents at CHI Health Center Omaha.
  • Houston Christian has lost 18 of its last 19 road games.
  • Creighton has won the first half in each of its last eight games at CHI Health Center Omaha.

Creighton vs Houston Christian Prediction

I’m leaning toward Creighton. The line’s too thick to mess with, though. The Jays are coming off a pretty easy win over Fairleigh Dickinson, notching 47.8 percent shooting from the field, 80 percent (20-of-25) from the line, 22 team assists, and a 51-30 rebounding advantage. Creighton did have 14 turnovers, but that was just about the only thing to complain about.

As for Houston Christian, they’ll be in for another tough Game here after falling big to Texas. The Huskies shot just 35.3 percent with a 36-27 rebounding deficit versus the Longhorns, and the 17 turnovers didn’t help matters. Houston Christian might hang around for a while here but I don’t see them finishing close.
