The Miami Marlins and the Colorado Rockies square off Thursday in MLB action from Coors Field. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this Game. Here’s a Colorado Rockies vs Miami Marlins Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Miami Marlins will send out Valente Bellozo here and Bellozo is 2-2 with a 3.35 ERA and 28 strikeouts this season. This will be Bellozo’s first career start against the Rockies. Bradley Blalock will get the start for the Rockies here and Blalock is 1-0 with a 3.06 ERA and 11 strikeouts this season. This will be Blalock’s first career start against Miami.

Miami Marlins Recap

The Miami Marlins come into this one looking to salvage a split from this series after falling flat in Wednesday’s matchup by a final score of 8-2. The loss put the Marlins at risk of another series loss after being taken down by the Cubs and Diamondbacks over the last week.

Marlins Playing Out The String

Jake Burger leads the Marlins with 25 home runs and 59 RBIs along with 105 hits while Jesus Sanchez has 17 home runs and 56 RBIs with 20 doubles. Xavier Edwards also has a team-high 22 stolen bases while Burger has the dubious distinction of leading the Marlins with 123 strikeouts this season.

Why the Miami Marlins will win

  • The Rockies have lost each of their last nine-day games following a win.
  • The Marlins have won three of their last four games as road underdogs against NL West opponents following a road loss.
  • The Rockies have failed to cover the run line in nine of their last 10 games as favorites against NL East opponents.
  • The Marlins have covered the run line in each of their last five-day games against NL West opponents.

Colorado Rockies Recap

The Colorado Rockies will try to win the series after picking up the win in Wednesday’s matchup. The win gives the Rockies a chance at another series win at home which would help the Rockies bounce back from series losses to the Yankees and Nationals over the last week and a half. The Rocks will take on the Orioles after this series.

Rockies Trying To Get Back To.500 At Home

Ezequiel Tovar leads the Rockies with 148 hits including a team-high 39 doubles, 21 home runs and 61 RBIs with 168 strikeouts as well this season while Ryan McMahon has 17 home runs and 58 RBIs along with 25 doubles and 152 strikeouts as well. Brenton Doyle’s added 22 doubles, 21 home runs, 63 RBIs and a team-high 25 stolen bases as well as 4 triples and Tovar has a team-best .274 batting average this season. Michael Toglia’s also chipped in 21 home runs as well this season.

Why the Colorado Rockies will win

  • The Rockies have won each of their last 15 Thursday day games as favorites against National League opponents.
  • The Marlins have lost five of their last six games against NL West opponents.
  • The Marlins have failed to cover the run line in eight of their last nine-day games against NL West opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Rockies have covered the run line in each of their last five-day games against NL East opponents following a win.

Colorado Rockies vs Miami Marlins Prediction

I’m on the Rockies here. Bellozo’s been solid for the Marlins, but he got hit hard at home in his last start and is making his first appearance ever in Colorado, which isn’t easy for anyone. Blalock’s been a nice addition to the Rockies’ rotation down the stretch, and his best start of all of the three so far actually came at home. With how inefficient the Marlins’ offense has a tendency to be more often than not, I have to roll with the Rockies in this one.
