Bidding to bounce back from their surprise group-stage exit at the 2023 World Cup, the Brazilians kicked off their W Gold Cup campaign with a narrow win over prelim-round qualifiers Puerto Rico on Wednesday. The Seleçao had 28 shots in their opener at Snapdragon Stadium, but were unable to find the breakthrough until Gabi Nunes finally beat Puerto Rican goalkeeper Sydney Martínez with 10 minutes remaining.
Colombia, on the other hand, romped to an impressive 6-0 win over Panama on matchday one, Manuela Pavi scoring twice for Las Cafeteras. Catalina Usme, Manuela Vanegas and Linda Caicedo were also on target for Ángelo Marsiglia’s side, before Panama’s Carina Baltrip-Reyes completed the scoring with a late own goal.

Colombia vs Brazil: prediction
The teams last met in the final of the 2022 Copa América, Debhina’s first-half penalty earning Brazil their eighth South American title. The Colombians may have started the W Gold Cup more impressively than their opponents, but we reckon they’ll have to wait a little longer to avenge that defeat.
We expect the spoils to be shared at Snapdragon Stadium - a result that would leave both teams on the cusp of quarter-final qualification. Prediction: Colombia 1-1 Brazil.
Who is the referee for Colombia vs Brazil? Who is the VAR?
American Tori Penso has been appointed as the match referee for Colombia vs Brazil, with compatriots Brooke Mayo and Kathryn Nesbitt her assistant referees. El Salvador’s Sandra Benítez will be the fourth official at Snapdragon Stadium, and the video assistant referee (VAR) will be the United States’ Ekaterina Koroleva. Her assistant VAR will be Mexico’s Amairany García.
