The college football season is in the books, and what a season it was. With Michigan knocking off Washington to win its first National Championship in over 25 years, it’s now time to turn our attention to the 2024-25 season. The long offseason begins on Tuesday, but that doesn’t mean that oddsmakers are slowing down when it comes to putting out national title lines for next fall.

Opening lines were released at most Sportsbooks on Monday night, and lines are already on the move. Let’s take a look at the current lines and give our impressions.

Best early bet for NCAAF 2024 National Championship: Missouri Tigers  (+6000)

The 12-team playoff will give us more room to look for a few longshots in the futures market this spring/summer, and I’m getting my portfolio started early with the Missouri Tigers. The 2024 season could be a year in which Missouri finds itself in the mix for the new expanded playoff, making this 60-1 price awfully attractive. This is a Tigers offense is absolutely loaded and should only add more through the transfer portal this offseason in order to build on an 11-win campaign. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz’s team really came on in the latter portion of the 2023 season, and the results spoke for themselves, as Missouri won every Game except for a pair of close losses to Georgia and LSU. The Tigers actually acquitted themselves quite well in both Games, proof that with some additional pieces added in the offseason, they can comPete for college Football’s biggest prize.

Brady Cook will be back at quarterback, and he will surely be a trendy pick to make another leap this coming fall. Cook should have a plethora of weapons at his disposal, especially in the receiving corps with all-world talent Luther Burden III leading the way. There’s also the matter of the schedule, as Missouri has one of the most manageable slates of any SEC team (avoids Georgia, goes to Alabama, hosts Oklahoma). At 60/1, I’m willing to buy this team now because I see a chance that the Tigers could inside the AP Poll top 10 next August and we see significant movement in the betting market over the summer as the hype builds.
