Welsh, 24, has also attracted attention from several English Championship teams. However, Celtic’s stance suggests they are cautious about thinning their defensive line without adequate replacements.

For Welsh, a move could indeed represent a chance to establish himself as a central figure in a team’s defence, potentially elevating his career and offering regular first-team Football. Such a step could be beneficial for his development, aligning with his professional aspirations beyond the confines of a backup role at Celtic.

Celtic’s decision to hold onto Welsh at this time reflects their poor transfer window so far. Had they got a defender in by now, then Welsh could maybe make a move and secure some regular minutes.

A defender is still on the wanted list for Celtic, so maybe once that piece of Business is complete Welsh can look to secure some Game time.
