Celtic continue to show a strong understanding of Brendan Rodgers’ style of play, especially after last season, when they often won Games without impressing.

Performances will always fall second to results, but this afternoon Celtic yet again put in an impressive performance against Hibernian at Easter Road.

Despite a lack of signings to the extent some might have hoped for, Rodgers appears to be getting the very most out of the squad at his disposal.

This was evident early in the Game when January signing Nicolas Kuhn opened the scoring after just three minutes.

Kuhn, who appears rejuvenated after pre-season at Celtic under Rodgers, made an immediate impact.

The German was picked out at the back post for a tap-in by veteran winger James Forrest, who has seen his Celtic career transformed after being linked with a move away from the club in January.

Celtic then extended their lead with captain Callum McGregor putting the Hoops 2-0 up in the 19th minute, the same week he announced his retirement from international Football.

With Steve Clarke and John Carver both in attendance for McGregor’s wonder goal, the Hoops skipper made it clear that his club career is by no means slowing down.

In the second half, the Game slowed a little, but an incident late in the half raised some questions.

Hibernian goalkeeper Josef Bursik took out Mikey Johnston in the box, leaving the Irish winger with a nosebleed and a swollen face.

Many will be wondering why a penalty was not awarded after such a brutal moment for Johnston.

Johnston was later substituted for Odin Thiago Holm as part of the new concussion substitution protocol, with Celtic having used all their other substitutes.
