Caitlin Clark predicts Angel Reese will dominate WNBA All-Star Game but what did she say?

There is no way to deny that all eyes will be on two rookies when this weekend’s WNBA All-Star Game gets underway. The Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark and the Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese will take to the floor but not as rivals, which they’ve been since college, but rather as teammates for the first time.

When the WNBA All-Star game gets underway this weekend, it goes without saying that the major focus will be rookies Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese who will be making their All-Star Game debuts. Much has been made about the rivalry between the two, having seen them go head-to-head in last season’s college championship game - Reese’s LSU defeated Clark’s Iowa State - before entering the WNBA following this year’s Draft. With Clark being selected No. 1 overall and Reese No. 7, there has been no shortage of narratives, helped by the fact that their first meeting in the league was a contentious affair with Clark being shoved to the ground by Reese’s teammate Chennedy Carter, and Reese seen applauding the move as it happened.

Yet, what we now have is the prospect of both women playing together rather than against each other, and by the sound of it, that’s something that Clark herself is relishing. “I’m really excited. I think it’s cool,” Clark said on the Orange Carpet on Thursday. “It’s obviously rare to have two rookies in the All-Star game, so I think just enjoy that. Obviously, the fans are super excited about it. I think it’s just really good for the W.” Clark didn’t stop there either as she went on to make a prediction. “Obviously she is having an incredible year. It’s going to be really fun,” said Clark. “She is probably going to lead the game in rebounds. I expect that out of her, that’s just what she does.”

If you didn’t know, Reese is fresh off of 15 consecutive double-doubles, averaging 15.3 points and 13.2 rebounds per contest with the Chicago Sky. Alongside the Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson, she has consistently led the league in rebounds this season. As for Clark, the ride has been a little rougher for the college game’s all-time leading scorer. On an average of 17.1 points per game - not bad - Clark has struggled at times to deal with the increased physicality of the game. On the other hand, she has at no point played the victim, picking herself up each time and going back to work. Indeed, that attitude has already paid off as she recently set a new WNBA record for assists in a single game with 19 during the Fever’s loss to the Dallas Wings, showcasing the idea that when she’s not scoring, she’s still helping. As for the details, Clark and Reese will represent the WNBA All-Star roster which will take on Team USA this Saturday. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET at Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
