Brendan Rodgers Discusses “Huge Benefit” of Winning the League this Season
Celtic’s league title victory not only secures their spot in next season’s Champions League but also introduces them to the competition’s new 36-team league format.
Under this revised setup, Celtic will be placed in pot 3 for the draw and will face two teams from each pot, including their own.
There will be four home ties and four away matches.
This adjustment in the comPetition format will increase the number of matches each team plays, enhancing both the comPetitive and financial aspects of the tournament.
Brendan Rodgers expressed his excitement about the opportunities this new format presents. “It’s very exciting,” he said on Celtic TV. “You get those extra couple of Games at that level. In every which way, whether it’s the Football or financial, it’s a huge benefit to a club like ourselves. From a Football perspective, I’m always very excited about testing ourselves against the very best teams.”
Additionally, the new format ensures that Celtic will continue comPeting in European Football after Christmas, a notable achievement as it has been less common in recent years.
This extension into the latter stages of the year is due to the inclusion of league matches scheduled post-Christmas.
It’s certainly something to look forward to next season.
