An 11-Game MLB slate takes centerstage on Monday Night with plenty of marquee matchups. Let’s dive into my best MLB player prop bets for Monday, August 26. Also don’t forget that you can find out our experts’ MLB picks for today’s matchups.

Edward Cabrera (MIA) Over 5.5 strikeouts (-129)

Line available at Caesars Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Backing a pitcher at Coors Field? You bet. Edward Cabrera will battle it out in Colorado against a Rockies team striking out at a top-five rate at home against right-handed pitching. Four of the last five RHP to throw in Coors Field topped at least six strikeouts except for Dylan Cease, who had five in the first three innings.

Cabrera is as erratic as it gets. He ranks in the 5th percentile in BB% but 72nd in K%. He’s been tested in his last three Games against much superior opponents. The Diamondbacks, Phillies, and Padres all rank in the bottom half in K% against RHP since the all-star break, so getting to face off against the Rockies on Monday Night should be a nice boost for the hard-throwing righty.

Zack Wheeler (PHI) Under 5.5 hits allowed (-140)

Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Zack Wheeler has enjoyed another CY Young-like season in 2024. His advanced metrics are off the chart. He ranks in the 89th and 91st percentile in xERA and xBA, all while striking batters out at a near 28% clip. Backing a hits-allowed prop is not for the weak, especially when that pitcher’s leash is as deep as anyone’s in the game. Wheeler easily has the stuff to go seven to eight innings tonight, but the elite arms in the Phillies bullpen are ready to go if they need.

The Astros come into town hitting around the league average against RHP this month at .246, with Alex Bregman returning to the lineup this past week. Wheeler has limited experience against this Astros lineup, with duels coming in the World Series two years ago, and a six-inning shutout performance last season where he allowed just three hits. I’ll gladly back him at home, where he has a 2.40 ERA and is holding batters to a .184 batting average thus far.
