Best MLB Player Prop Bets for Today 5/3: It's always Sonny in St. Louis | Pickswise
Friday’s MLB slate calls for all 30 teams in action, and I have my best MLB player prop bets ready to go. You can find out our MLB picks for all of today’s huge matchups, but for now, let’s dive into our best MLB player prop bets for Friday, May 3.
Sonny Gray (STL) 5+ K’s/Cardinals ML over White Sox (-125)
Line available at DraftKings at time of publishing.
Sonny Gray gets the pleasure of facing off against the 6-25 Chicago White Sox on Friday Night. Yes, the same White Sox team that is 1-13 on the road. Gray, who is no longer on a pitch count, is projected to go 6+ innings tonight, according to the Sportsbooks. His earned runs prop is set at 1.5, while the Cardinals are -275 on the First five innings moneyline.
Though the Cardinals haven’t been sharp, they’ll be matched up against 28-year-old Brad Keller – making his 1st start of the season and 2nd appearance after a bullpen outing earlier this week. Keller spent last season on the Kansas City Royals, where he was dreadful. His 5.70 xERA earned him a minor league deal with Chicago, and he’ll look to go head-to-head with Gray on the road. Give me the much better pitcher at home and the more talented offense.

Tanner Houck (BOS) under 2.5 earned runs (-130)
Line available at DraftKings at time of publishing.
Tanner Houck is coming off a stellar month of April. In 39.1 innings pitched, Houck registered a 1.60 ERA and held opponents to a .211 batting average. That included the Cleveland Guardians twice and, most recently, the Chicago Cubs – much better offenses against RHP than who he’ll see tonight in the Minnesota Twins.
The Twins’ sky-high K% allows Houck to have another start of upwards of 6+ K’s – which he has eclipsed in four of six starts. His strikeout prop is set at 5.5 with vig on the over on all major Sportsbooks. His low BB% has separated him from other starting pitchers and has allowed him to pitch into the 6th inning in all six starts. Instead of his hits allowed prop, we’ll pivot to earned runs, as Houck has stayed under this line in all but one start, while the Twins have failed to score more than two runs against a RH starter in eight of their last 10 Games.
