Best MLB player prop bet for today, 9/28: Bassitt bullies the Bronx Bombers
MLB playoff spots are on the line today and we have both afternoon and evening baseball to get the juices flowing ahead of Week 4 Thursday Night Football. We have cashed 15 of our last 19 MLB prop bets and I’ve found some value in the market today. Here is my best player prop bet for the evening of Thursday, September 28.
Chris Bassitt (Blue Jays) under 2.5 earned runs (-135)
Available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Recommended 0.75u wager.
The Toronto Blue Jays are in the middle of the playoff race and tonight they face a New York Yankees team whose season is over. Toronto has been outscored 8-0 in the first 2 Games of this series, but the Blue Jays have one of their best starters on the mound tonight in Chris Bassitt.
The veteran right-hander has improved as the season has progressed. He has posted a 4.29 SIERA since the All-Star break and in that span, he has stayed under this earned runs line in 9 of his 13 starts. On the season, he has stayed under the line in 20 of his 32 starts overall and 10 of his 16 starts at home. He has found success recently by highlighting the use of his curveball and changeup as secondary pitches. In September, the new-look Yankees lineup Bassitt will see tonight ranks 17th in road wRC+ against right-handed pitching, 18th in run value/100 against right-handed curveballs, and #28 in run value/100 against right-handed changeups.
Bassitt should be able to step up in this big game for Toronto and mow down an inexperienced Yankees lineup. The hitter markets for this game certainly think so, with almost everybody on the Yankees being projected as a longshot for meaningful offensive production. Toronto being in a tight wild-card race and having 8 relievers fully available for this contest should also mean that Bassitt’s leash shouldn’t be very long. Manager John Schnieder should have no issues removing Bassitt in case of any trouble late in the game and that makes this under phenomenal value.
