Bayern Munich's deadline for Alphonso Davies contract decision revealed - report
Bayern Munich have warned left-back Alphonso Davies that he has until the end of the month to make a decision on his future at the club, a report has claimed.
Davies has entered the final 18 months of his current contract and Bayern hope to tie him down to an extension, but sporting director Max Eberl recently admitted the club could not afford to wait around forever for an answer.
Complicating matters for Bayern is Real Madrid's determination to sign Davies this summer. The Spanish side hope Davies rejects the offer of a new contract, which will force Bayern to sell for a reduced fee.
According to Sky in Germany, Bayern want an answer from Davies by the end of the month. If he opts to refuse an extension, the Canada international will be made available for transfer and Bayern want enough time to find a high-level extension.
The likes of AC Milan's Theo Hernandez and Chelsea's Ian Maatsen have been touted as possible replacements for Davies.
Davies is reported to be demanding a contract worth €20m annually but Bayern's offer is worth closer to €14m per season - a sum club officials are refusing to budge from.
If Bayern are forced to part ways with Davies this summer, they will demand a fee of at least €50m, but Madrid are working "with all their might" to reduce that sum.
Boosting Madrid's chances of landing Davies is the presence of former Bayern defender David Alaba, who is understood to remain close to Davies despite his exit from the club in 2021, with the Austrian keen to reunite in Madrid this summer.
A handful of Premier League sides, including Chelsea and Manchester City, have been linked with Davies, but Madrid remain the leaders in the race for his signature.
