Auston Trusty Given International Recognition for Recent Celtic Displays
Celtic central defender Auston Trusty has received international recognition for his recent Hoops performances in the form of a USA call-up.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have a double-header against Jamaica later this month, with Trusty looking to build on his three caps in the CONCACAF Nations League quarter-final.
The call-up comes after the 26-year-old has nailed down a spot in the Celtic starting 11.
Trusty has taken the place of Liam Scales next to Cameron Carter-Vickers, conjuring a congenial partnership with his fellow countryman, who didn’t receive a call up this international break.
Signed for £6m from Sheffield United over the summer, any initial doubts over Trusty’s abilities have been washed away over the past few weeks, especially given his performances against the likes of Atalanta, RB Leipzig, and yesterday, versus Kilmarnock.
Even out of position on the right side of central defence, Trusty proved dependable next to Liam Scales as Celtic faced a considerable 18 shots, six of which were on target.
The champions probably should have conceded, but the defence’s antics, backed up by Kasper Schmeichel between the sticks, helped them secure a hard-fought and equally deserved 2-0 away victory.
Now, Trusty and Co. will jet off to meet up with their respective countries before the Bhoys’ trip to Tynecastle a week on Saturday.
