“As things stand, neither Modric or Kroos will be at Real Madrid next season”
Antonio Romero, journalist for Cadena SER offered his analysis regarding the situation of Real Madrid’s midfield duo of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos on SER Deportivos. The well connected Romero was adamant that two veteran heavyweights in the Real Madrid dressing room will not continue at the Santiago Bernabéu next year.
‘Things are complicated and the sad news for Real Madrid fans is that, as things stand, both Toni Kroos and Luka Modric are more out of Real Madrid than in although the cases surrounding each player are different”, he stated.
Romero added: “Kroos’ situation has changed throughout the season for people inside the club. Real Madrid have not put a renewal offer on the table because they understand that, if he wants to continue, he is the one who has to inform the club.
Regarding Luka Modric, before the Champions League final at Wembley, he is set to have a private face-to-face conversation with the Real Madrid president. Before that conversation takes place, as things are, Modric is set to leave Real Madrid. After that talk with Perez, things may change. The president loves Modric in a Football capacity and Modric is keen to stay, but there are other external factors that may determine the outcome”.
Romero concluded on a pessimistic note for Madrid fans: “If I had to bet on Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, both of them, staying at Real Madrid next season, my answer would be ‘no’.’
