Arizona Cardinals Futures Odds 2023, Win Totals & Season Predictions

The Arizona Cardinals started the 2021 season with a 10-2 record. Since then they have gone 5-18. You can’t make this stuff up, folks. Few franchises in NFL history have fallen farther and faster than Arizona, which is projected to even worse in 2023 than it was in 2022. Former #1 overall pick Kyler Murray suffered a torn ACL in December of last year and had surgery to repair it in January. It’s hard to see Murray being ready for the start of the regular season and who knows if the Cardinals will still be in mathematical playoff contention by the time he is ready to return?

Will Arizona be the worst team in the league this season, or will it be able to win more than a few Games? Let’s take a look at the odds and best bets to be made on the Arizona Cardinals in 2023.

Arizona Cardinals 2022 season recap

After compiling a 7-0 record on the way to 10-2 in 2021, the Cardinals never contended in 2022. Not once did they get above .500 and the last time they found themselves at .500 was Week 4. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury’s crew was still somewhat respectable at 4-6 through 10 weeks, but it promptly lost its final 7 games. Although a few contests were competitive, during that closing stretch the Cardinals lost to the 49ers twice by a combined score of 76-23. Murray got hurt during a Week 14 Monday Night Football loss to New England, after which Colt McCoy, Trace McSorely and David Blough split time under center. Results the rest of the way were predictably disastrous, as Arizona finished 4-13 for the third-worst record in football.

Arizona Cardinals 2023 NFL season predictions

As the odds indicate, Arizona is expected to be the worst team in the entire NFL. The Cardinals were already bad last year and now Murray is temporarily gone while DeAndre Hopkins is permanently gone. Is there any reason for optimism in 2023, or is it all bad?

Here are a couple of my predictions for the Arizona Cardinals this season.

Best bet: Arizona Cardinals under 4.5 wins (-120)

This franchise clearly isn’t in win-now mode. Heck, that might have been the case even if Murray had not gotten hurt. Complete rebuilding mode was confirmed when Arizona traded away the #3 overall pick in the NFL Draft to stockpile future selections. The Cardinals got worse in free agency and drafted projects as opposed to immediate impact players. Looking at the schedule, they may be able to beat the Rams and Seahawks at home – but otherwise their home lineup is difficult and I can’t see them winning more than 2 games on the road. As low as the number is, I still think the under is the way to play it.

Arizona Cardinals season record predictions

I would probably avoid the exact wins market like the plague with this team given the uncertainty surrounding Murray, but +450 odds on 4-13 arguably represents the best value. The Cardinals should be able to win a couple of games in an NFC West that is unspectacular outside of the 49ers, and they can piece together a couple of other victories here and there along the way. But even if Murray returns and is close to his former self, this team is going to be bad.
