Bronny James played in his second preseason game as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.

Once again, L.A. wound up losing the game when their second-round draft pick proved to be a nonfactor.

With the ‘highlights’ from his first preseason Game still fresh on everyone’s minds, Bronny finished the second Game with two rebounds, no points and no assists.

After the outing, Lakers star Anthony Davis gave his honest assessment of Bronny.

“He’s tough,” Davis said. “Obviously, he’s defensive-minded. Some great blocks in Game 1. The physicality, he gets over on screens. Good with his hands as far as deflection and steals. But he’s also still learning.

“He’s still trying to figure everything out, so we have to realize that,” Davis added.

“He’s still a rookie. It’s a different style of basketball in the league. But I like what I’m seeing from him, on both ends of the floor, especially defensively.”

Bronny, for his part, has also not shied away from talking about his woeful preseason play.

That’s the good.

The bad, unfortunately, is that he hasn’t shown any signs of being able to play basketball at a high level ever since he left high school. He struggled at USC – and he continues to struggle against inferior Summer League and preseason competition at the NBA level.

Will Bronny one day become a proper NBA player? Maybe. Is he one right now? No.
