The club, who currently sit second bottom in Scottish League One, need to raise £200,000 by the end of the month to avoid the immediate threat of administration.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help save Caley Thistle. The combined sum of donations is currently £74,400.

One donation saw an anonymous source put a hefty £20,000 into the fund. Speaking to the Scottish Football Show, Inverness podcaster Stevie Riley revealed who was behind it.

“Not that we know, but I think it’s Ryan Christie,” he said (Scottish Football Show via RecordSport).

“Thanks Ryan, but that’s small change from his Bournemouth wage I think. But yeah, I think it’s him.”

In fairness to Christie, £20,000 is a sizeable sum, but as Riley says, compared to his annual salary at English Premier League outfit Bournemouth, it isn’t much.

Regardless, Caley will take all they can get at the minute as they aim to avoid the same fate as Rangers in 2012.

Christie clearly hasn’t forgotten his roots, giving a helping hand to the club he left for Celtic at the start of 2016.

The attack-minded midfielder went on to make 151 for the Hoops in all comPetitions, winning several trophies and moulding into a key player before departing during a period of transition just as Ange Postecoglou came in the door.
