Adnan Siddiqui, a prominent Pakistani Celebrity, has publicly condemned Bollywood's T-Series for releasing a remix of the iconic song "Akhiyaan De Kol," originally sung by legendary Pakistani artist Reshma.

The new version is part of the soundtrack for the upcoming film Do Patti.

Adnan Siddiqui took to social media, expressing his discontent with the remake.

He wrote on X, “Imitation can be flattering, but not when it means tearing apart a classic by a legend. Please show some respect for Reshma jee and the legacy she left behind.”

He emphasised that Reshma's music deserves to be treated with dignity and should not be reduced to “just another sordid rip-off.”

The remix has faced significant backlash from social media users, who also flooded the YouTube comment section with criticisms.

One user remarked, “Stop stealing Pakistani songs,” while another stated, “Seriously!! They’ve ruined one of the best songs.” A third user added, “Reshma ji would have never imagined her song being portrayed this way.”

Reshma, renowned for her soulful voice, sang many popular songs including Dama Dam Mast Kalandar and Lambi Judai.

Her original composition of Akhiyaan De Kol, penned by Sehrai Gurdas Puri, has been celebrated over the years, including a notable rendition by Lata Mangeshkar for Raj Kapoor's 1973 film Bobby.

"Akhiyaan De Kol" was originally penned by Sehrai Gurdas Puri, and the new rendition features Indian singer Shilpa Rao, with composition by Tanishk Bagchi and lyrics by Kausar Munir.

For Do Patti, the new version has been recreated by music composer Tanishk Bagchi and features vocals by Shilpa Rao with lyrics by Kausar Munir.

The film, marking Kriti Sanon’s debut in film production, will be available for streaming on Netflix starting October 25. The cast also includes Kajol, Tanvi Azmi, and Brijendra Kala.
