Adam Idah’s stint at Celtic during the latter half of the season has left an indelible mark on both the fans and the club. The striker, on loan from Norwich City, became a pivotal figure in Celtic’s campaign, most memorably with his 90th-minute winner in the Scottish Cup final against Rangers. His knack for scoring in crucial moments and his robust physical presence have made him a fan favourite and a key player under Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers has not hidden his admiration for Idah, often praising his ability to rise to the occasion in high-pressure matches. ““He’s been a real catalyst for us, especially over the last few months. “I knew what I was getting because I’d seen him in the Premier League at 18. “He has all the attributes. He’s fast, dynamic, strong and I felt with better positioning he’d get goals,” Rodgers stated to The Independent at the end of last season. The Celtic manager’s endorsement highlights the impact Idah has had and the desire to bring him back.

Idah has since returned to Norwich City, where his future now lies in the hands of new manager Johannes Hoff Thorup. Thorup, addressing the media this week about Idah’s role in his plans, said to FLW, “Yep. I definitely want to assess him. He’s an exciting player and he’s from here. He can do dangerous things up front. I will definitely have a look at him.” This statement suggests that Celtic’s hopes of securing Idah for another spell might be more complicated than initially anticipated.

Thorup’s intent to evaluate Idah’s potential at Norwich indicates that the Canaries might be keen on retaining the striker, posing a significant challenge for Celtic. The worst-case scenario for the Bhoys would be Thorup deciding to integrate Idah into his plans for the upcoming season, thus ending any immediate prospects of a return to Glasgow for the striker.

In light of this, Celtic must consider alternative options. While Idah’s contributions have been significant, the club cannot afford to be left vulnerable should Norwich decide to keep him. Exploring other potential signings or loan deals will be crucial to maintaining the attacking prowess that Idah brought to the team.

Celtic fans will undoubtedly continue to hope for Idah’s return, given his remarkable performances and the bond he has formed with the supporters. However, the reality of the situation calls for prudent planning and readiness to adapt to any developments.
