5 NBA Teams Emerge As Legit Suitors For Tobias Harris
Tobias Harris is an unrestricted free agent this summer and is expected to make the most of that opportunity.
In 2019 Harris signed a five-year, $180 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. The expectation was that he would fit perfectly alongside Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and Jimmy Butler. Unfortunately that team quickly blew up.
Because of that, Harris often found himself as the scapegoat when things went wrong for the Sixers. He averaged 17.6 points per Game on nearly 37 percent shooting from three throughout the entirety of his run in Philly, while also chipping in 6.6 rebounds per outing.
What really separated Harris from his star teammates, though, is his ability to stay on the court. Throughout his Sixers stint he missed a mere 40 games.
Now that he is moving on, Harris has the opportunity to rewrite the story of his career in a truly meaningful way.
According to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, there is no shortage of squid interested in Harris’ services.
“[The] Utah [Jazz], Detroit [Pistons], San Antonio [Spurs], Dallas [Mavericks], and New Orleans [Pelicans],” he said in a recent video.
“Dallas and New Orleans, those will probably have to be sign-and-trade-type scenarios. Those are teams that I’m hearing that are expected to have some level of interest in Tobias Harris this summer.”
The other team to keep an eye on as it pertains to Harris is the Los Angeles Lakers. L.A. is looking to make a big splash this summer, as evidenced by the other big trade they are being linked to, and Harris could be the missing piece they are looking for. They too would need to do a sign-and-trade.
One way or another, this promises to be an interesting next few weeks.
Where will Harris end up playing when the dust finally settles? Time will tell.
