Yankees beat the Astros in the first game of the series

The New York Yankees won the series’ first Game against the Houston Astros at Yankee Stadium with a score of 10-3. The New Yorkers had 13 hits; the standout player was Alex Verdugo. In the throwing segment, Justin Verlander, the losing pitcher, suffered his first loss of the year, while Luis Gil secured his third win.

In the Game, Alex Verdugo, a former player of the Boston Red Sox, had an impressive 3-for-5 with four RBIs. During his first at-bat, the Mexican player hit a home run that brought Juan Soto and Aaron Judge to score three runs. Later, in his second at-bat of the night, he added another RBI single, which allowed the Dominican to score again.

Volpe and Stanton thunder the wood

During the first Game against the Astros, both Anthony Volpe and Giancarlo Stanton hit the woodwork. In the fourth inning, the shortstop scored two runs with a complete turn. In the fifth inning, the designated hitter hit a solo shot, making it 7-1. Stanton’s home run was the most powerful one of the season, as the ball hit 118.8 miles per hour.

Judge added the eighth

The “Bronx Bombers” continued their good hitting in the sixth inning thanks to Aaron Judge. Judge sent Jon Berti home with a single to center field, extending the Yankee’s lead to 8-1. The talented outfielder has produced 21 runs in 2024.

Batting rally in the seventh

Eight of the nine Yankees came up to bat in the seventh inning, and the New York team added two more runs to reach 10. Jon Berti drove in Stanton, who received a walk. Volpe said another with a grounder to the second base, where Berti was eliminated, and Anthony Rizzo rang.

The Astros made the score more decent in the last inning, but it was not enough. Trey Cabbage hit a grounder that split the diamond, and Jon Singleton and Victor Caratini scored as Houston left Yankee Stadium with three runs.
