Good morning, Pickswise Nation. There is still plenty of sports action on the menu even during these dog days of summer. Another week in Major League Baseball is underway, there is CONCACAF Gold Cup soccer and the next golf tournament on the PGA Tour schedule is coming up. It’s another big day in the world of sports, so let’s get right to it and make your next bet better with Wise n’ Shine!

About Last Night

MLB parlay cashes at +392
The Pickswise experts cashed their +392 Major League Baseball parlay on Monday. Under 9 in the Tigers vs Rangers game was a push, while Braves -1.5 over Twins and Brewers ML over Mets were winners. Atlanta’s 4-1 defeat of Minnesota gave the NL East leaders an 11th victory in their last 12 games.

LSU wins College World Series
It is once again ring season at LSU, as the Tigers are the national champions of college baseball following their decisive Game 3 win over SEC rival Florida on Monday night in Omaha. LSU bounced back from a 24-4 loss in Game 2 with a blowout of its own, this one by an 18-4 margin. That gave us an easy cash with our Game 3 Best Bet of over 8.5.

Today’s Slate

A full 15-game schedule in Major League Baseball
Following a small 6-game slate to begin the week in baseball, the usual 15-game lineup is on the docket for Tuesday. The Braves and Twins will play the second game of their series at 7:20 pm ET on TBS, while Reds vs Orioles and Astros vs Cardinals are other inter-league matchups worth watching. Don’t miss our MLB predictions.

Gold Cup soccer action
Canada plays its first CONCACAF Gold Cup match at BMO Field tonight, taking on Guadeloupe at 7;00 pm ET on FS1. Check out our soccer picks.

Best Bet of the Day

MLB: Seattle Mariners -1.5 (-105) over Washington Nationals
9:40 pm ET, MASN

Jake Irvin is pitching for Washington and he has a record of 1-4 and an ERA of 4.71. Irvin has iffy statistics in regards to percentiles, ranking around average in most but below average in K% (16th percentile) and BB% (10th percentile). With Irvin having an xERA of 4.93, the Mariners should be able to provide some sort of run support; they average 4.39 runs per game at home. Bryan Woo is going for Seattle. He endured a rough beginning to his season, giving 7 runs against a talented Rangers lineup. Since then he has been a stud, allowing 4 runs through the following 3 starts. His xERA is a 2.46 and he seems to have found his touch in recent games. The Nationals rank 23rd in the MLB for runs scored, so Woo should have a fair chance to improve his stats even more in this one.

The country club sports always heat up during the summer when other leagues wind down, so get on the tennis and gold bandwagon. There is only a week to go before Wimbledon, and one of the last big warm-up tournaments on grass takes center stage in Eastbourne. Both the men and women are there, so our tennis expert has multiple best bets that you don’t want to miss. On the links, the Rocket Mortgage Classic starts this week and Diane Knox Balas has delivered her predictions. As for baseball, our best YRFI/NRFI bets are already up and running.

Stat of the Day

Despite losing 2-0 to the US Men’s National Team in the Nations League A Final, Canada has won 3 of its last 4 games by at least 2 goals heading into tonight’s CONCACAF Gold Cup matchup against Guadeloupe.

Quote of the Day

Of course, recovering the #1 (ranking) before Wimbledon gives you extra motivation; it gives you extra confidence coming into Wimbledon. But it doesn’t change too much if I play Wimbledon as the #2 or the #1.

Carlos Alcaraz regained the #1 ATP ranking from Novak Djokovic after winning the Club title on Sunday and will be seeded first at Wimbledon when the draw comes out later this week.
