Willie Miller was blown away by ‘sublime’ Celtic player in Scottish Cup win vs Aberdeen

If the Celtic fans are really honest, there were not many players who stood out in the Scottish Cup semi-final win against Aberdeen yesterday.

Despite booking our place at Hampden for the final in May, Brendan Rodgers‘ side didn’t really hit top gear for large spells of the Game despite scoring three goals.

Slack defending and passing really hindered Celtic and made yesterday’s game a bit of a tough watch but in the end, a penalty shoot-out win sealed the deal and Rodgers and his team can look forward to another Hampden final this season.

But despite toiling at times, Aberdeen legend, Willie Miller, has shared the Celtic player he was really impressed with yesterday afternoon.

‘Sublime’ James Forrest was Celtic’s gamechanger

Co-commentating with Pat Bonner, Miller was blown away with James Forrest after the Celtic winger put his team ahead on the 63rd minute.

Miller said during commentary [BBC Radio Scotland], “It was a brilliant swap wasn’t it and he puts him out on the left-hand side as well coming on to his right foot.

“And they did get a warning, Aberdeen. They managed to block the first shot but the second was sublime.

“I mean, he’s stroked it into that far corner and Kelle Roos had no real chance to get to it because it’s so precise.

“An inspired substitution that turned the Game around.”

James Forrest’s contribution at Celtic has been seriously understated of late. Coming on as a second-half substitution, the legendary winger still has it in him to make an effective contribtion this season.

Making 23 appearances, Forrest has still managed to score four goals despite averaging just over 22 minutes per Game.

Goals against Ross County and St Johnstone (twice) have made him an important player to come off the bench as proven yesterday. [Transfermarkt]

And with Celtic having six fixtures left of the season, Forrest is likely to feature and contribute as we aim to win a league and cup double.
