Why isn’t Bukayo Saka playing for Arsenal against Luton Town in the Premier League?
Bukayo Saka has been left out of the Arsenal squad to face Luton Town in the Premier League on Wednesday night despite Gunners manager Mikel Arteta heavily suggesting he would be fit to play.
What injury does Bukayo Saka have?
The winger withdrew from the England squad in the March international break because of an “unspecified injury” but was back in the starting line-up for Sunday’s goalless draw against title rivals Manchester City.
However, he appeared to be struggling towards the end of the match at the Etihad and was substituted with 12 minutes left to play, with Arteta citing “fatigue” caused by a lack of training in the run-up to the Game.
When will Saka be back for Arsenal?
In his pre-match press conference before facing Luton, however, the Spaniard hinted that Saka would involved on Wednesday, when Arsenal have the chance to move above Liverpool to the top of the Premier League table, albeit perhaps only for 24 hours.
“He is fine. Obviously we haven’t trained, just recovered. We will have a short, light session today (Tuesday) to prepare the Game and we will see whether he is in the best position to start or not”.
Arteta has ultimately decided fielding his key attacker isn’t worth the risk, telling British broadcaster before the match Saka hadn’t “been able to do everything that we needed to give him the chance to start the Game”. His words, however, suggest there is every chance he will be back in action for The Gunners’ next Game, which is away to Brighton on Saturday (6 April). The Londoners then host Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday (9 April).
