U.S. Olympic Wrestling Roster 2024: Athlete News and Updates

As of March 2024, the United States has qualified for 13 out of the 18 Olympic weight classes in wrestling:

  • Men’s Freestyle: The U.S. has secured 4 out of 6 quota spots.
  • Women’s Freestyle: Team USA has claimed all 6 quota spots available.
  • Greco-Roman: The U.S. has earned 3 out of 6 quota spots.

The first two phases of qualification are complete, but there’s still one chance left for Team USA to secure the missing quota spots. A World Qualification Tournament will be held in Istanbul in May. Athletes who haven’t yet qualified will compete there for a chance to represent the U.S. in Paris.

When are the U.S. Olympic Wrestling Trials

The U.S. Olympic Wrestling Trials are taking place on April 19-20 at Penn State University. Here’s how it works:

  • In weight classes where the U.S. has already earned a quota spot, the Trials champion will automatically make the Olympic team and compete in Paris.
  • For non-qualified weight classes, the Trials champion will head to the World Qualification Tournament in May to vie for a quota spot.

Star Qualifiers

Among the standout qualifiers are: Adeline Gray, a top medal hope for Team USA in Olympic wrestling. Sarah Hildebrandt, qualified in the 50 kg weight category. Helen Maroulis, Shining in the 57 kg weight category.
