The first four teams to secure safe passage through to the Champions League quarter-finals were Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Real Madrid.

The German giants had to do it the hard way after a dismal defeat in Rome against Lazio, winning the second leg 3-0, while PSG saw out a comfortable 4-1 aggregate success by winning both matches against Real Sociedad. After securing a treble in 2022/23, Manchester City have been heavily backed by fans to win the Champions League for the second season on the trot. Given how they've performed since the turn of 2024, the Cityzens looked primed to at least reach the semi-finals.

Real Madrid can't be discounted, either. The La Liga champions in waiting just need to keep some of their key stars fit - Jude Bellingham and Antonio Rudiger are two key performers who have been sidelined in recent months - to give themselves the best chance of success.

Arsenal's incredible run to start the year means Mikel Arteta's Gunners must be considered, despite losing the first leg of their last-16 tie with Porto, while Italian giants and last season's runners-up Inter - who have only lost two games all term - will be there or thereabouts.
