What are the conditions of Dani Alves’ jail release after €1 million bail payment?
After spending 430 nights locked up, the 40 year old ex-Football star Dani Alves will be able to leave prison after the bail amount of one million euros ($1.08m) was paid.
Pulling together the funds has taken a few days, made harder due to the fact that much of his multi-million fortune earned over his years of playing at the top level, particularly during his spell at FC Barcelona, has been frozen. That was due to a dispute with his wife. His release, however, will have a number of conditions built in.
Alves prohibited from leaving Spain
Alves’ prison sentence was for four and a half years after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a young woman in the Sutton nightclub in the Catalonian capital. When he departs the Brians 2 prison, where many have gathered to protest, he will have to continue to surrender his two passports (he has a Spanish and Brazilian one) and he will also have to report weekly in person to the Barcelona Court of Appeal.
The Brazil legend is banned from leaving Spain and continues to be prohibited from communicating with or coming within one kilometre of the 23-year-old victim.
