Klay Thompson’s Golden State Warriors exit has freed up space to bring in another star. Originally that was supposed to be Paul George, but for a multitude of reasons a deal never materialized.

So where do the Warriors go from here?

According to KC Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago, Golden State has kicked the tires on a potential trade for Zach LaVine. They are one of three teams to do so.

“I’ve been led to believe that there are two teams that are still at least having conversations with glimmer of hope, however you want to phrase it,” Johnson said. “I don’t want to be aggregated poorly. I’m just, I’m grasping for the best way to phrase it myself. What I will say is I’ve written the [Sacramento] Kings and Warriors and I think those two teams …”

In addition to LaVine, Golden State is also reportedly exploring a deal for Brandon Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans.

“What big swings are still out there, as Golden State has also put Andrew Wiggins on the trade block, according to league sources.” Yahoo Sports insider Jake Fischer wrote recently.

“The options range across a spectrum of upside, from sending out picks for Brandon Ingram to potentially acquiring one with Zach LaVine.”

Ingram is coming into the final season of a five-year, $158.2 million contract in 2024-25. He is set to to have a $36 million cap hit next season.

Does he fill the Warriors’ current needs enough to justify his price tag? That is the question that will ultimately determine whether or not Golden State makes a serious push for him in the coming weeks.
