Usher’s setlist for the Super Bowl 2024 Halftime show: complete list of songs
R&B superstar Usher (Raymond), fresh off of a wildly successful Las Vegas residency, was recently selected to perform at the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime show in Las Vegas as the Kansas City Chiefs face San Francisco 49ers in the NFL final.
Born in Dallas, Texas, he spent his early childhood in Chattanooga, Tennessee, before moving to Georgia’s state capital at the age of 12 and it was in Atalanta where his career started to blossom.
Aware of his musical abilities, his family felt he would have a better chance of capitalising on his talent in a city larger than Chattanooga - and within two years of arriving in Atlanta, Usher had secured his first record deal.
Over the three decades since then, the 45-year-old has amassed nine No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, has won eight Grammy Awards, and has racked up a net worth reported to be around the $180 million mark.
What has Usher said about his Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show?
On Friday, the singer took part in the NFL’s Halftime Show press conference, discussing his plans for a performance that he has said will be a celebration of his 30-year career, and will offer viewers “hope for the future”.
“It definitely has been a challenge to squeeze 30 years into 13 minutes,” Usher told the press conference host, Nadeska Alexis, adding: “I was very mindful of my past, celebrating my present, which is here in Las Vegas, and thinking about where we’re headed in the future.
“And that was really the idea. What songs do I feel people know me for? What songs have been a celebration of all of the journey of what life, and love, and emotion has been offered in my music?”
What tracks will Usher perform on Sunday?
The setlists for the Super Bowl Halftime shows are generally some of the best kept secrets in show Business as artists try and cram their greatest hits (and new single if there is one to promote) into the condensed thirteen minute available time slot with most artists reverting to a medley format with tracks segueing into one another.
It doesn’t take a betting man/woman to predict that we’ll get to hear the likes of: “Yeah”, “DJ Got us Falling in Love”, “U Remind Me” and it’s likely that his breakthrough hit “U Make Me Wanna” will also get a hearing. It’s also been rumoured that Alicia Keys will be one of Usher’s special guests which points to a version of the 2004 hit track “My Boo” being performed.
Usher maintains that the Super Bowl Halftime show will be the latest peak in his 30-year career. “Las Vegas has been amazing for me,” the 45-year-old, clad in a long black leather jacket, black gloves and dark sunglasses, told the press conference.
