The Oakland A’s and the Toronto Blue Jays meet Saturday in MLB action from Rogers Centre. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this Game. Here’s an Oakland A’s vs. Toronto Blue Jays prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Oakland A’s will start Osvaldo Bido here and Bido is 2-3 with a 4.64 ERA and 34 strikeouts this season. This will be Bido’s first career start against Toronto. The Toronto Blue Jays will start Yariel Rodriguez here and Rodriguez is 1-4 with a 3.86 ERA and 47 strikeouts this season. This will be Rodriguez’s first career start against the A’s.

Oakland A’s Recap

The Oakland A’s will try to rebound after starting the series with a 3-1 loss to the Blue Jays in Friday’s series opener. The loss put the A’s at risk of failing to build on their series win over the White Sox to start the week.

A’s Trying To Finish Season With Positive Vibes

Brent Rooker leads the A’s with 107 hits and 81 RBIs along with 28 home runs this season while Abraham Toro has 80 hits and 26 RBIs. JJ Bleday has a team-high 33 doubles, 4 triples, 99 hits and 38 RBIs and Toro has a .247 batting average. Rooker also has 126 K’s at the dish this season, while Zack Gelof has the unfortunate title of leading strikeout bat with 131 strikeouts this season. Shea Langeliers has also chipped in 21 home runs and 57 RBIs.

Why the Oakland Athletics will win

  • The Athletics have won each of their last six games as underdogs following a road loss.
  • The Blue Jays have lost five of their last seven games as home favorites against American League opponents following a win.
  • The Athletics have covered the run line in each of their last eight games as underdogs following a loss.
  • The Blue Jays have failed to cover the run line in 13 of their last 15 games as favorites.

Toronto Blue Jays Recap

The Toronto Blue Jays will try to keep the momentum going after squeaking out a win in Friday’s opener. The win puts the Jays in a good spot to nab back-to-back series wins after taking down the Orioles in their last series.

Blue Jays Looking To Get Back To .500

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. leads the Blue Jays with 143 hits including 30 doubles, 23 home runs and 76 RBIs along with a .323 batting average and a .395 OBP. Daulton Varsho’s chipped in 13 home runs and 47 RBIs in addition to 17 doubles. Davis Schneider has 18 doubles while George Springer has a team-high 13 stolen bases. Varsho also has a team-high 108 strikeouts and 10 stolen bases as well this season. Bo Bichette and Ernie Clement also have 16 doubles this season.

Why the Toronto Blue Jays will win

  • The Blue Jays have won 15 of their last 16 home games against the Athletics following a home win.
  • The Athletics have lost 14 of their last 15 road games against American League opponents following a road loss.
  • The Athletics have failed to cover the run line each of their last 11 Saturday day games against AL East opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Blue Jays have covered the run line in 10 of their last 11 day games against the Athletics at Rogers Centre following a home win.

A’s vs. Blue Jays Prediction

I’m on the Blue Jays here. I just like what I’ve seen from Toronto in their recent outings and the A’s are starting to fall apart like the A’s teams that we’ve seen in the last couple of years. I’m sure they can bring value to the table in spots the rest of the way, but Rodriguez for me is the more trustworthy starter and I trust the Blue Jays lineup more here. Give me the Blue Jays.

Chris Ruffolo's Free Pick: Toronto -147
