Celtic winger Luis Palma has made a notable impact at Parkhead since joining from Greek outfit Aris Thessaloniki last summer.

Arriving for a fee of £3.5 million, the 24-year-old has racked up 32 appearances in all comPetitions under Brendan Rodgers, registering nine goals and ten assists [Transfermarkt].

Per Fotmob, Honduras international Palma ranks first for Celtic in the Scottish Premiership regarding big chances created (13), successful dribbles completed per 90 minutes (2.9), Expected Assists per 90 minutes, and possession won in the final third (1.3).

Granted, there are legitimate points to be made in relation to his final ball at the time; however, statistical platforms can sometimes point out positive elements of performance that don’t initially meet the eye test.

By his own admission, Palma shed light on his struggle for consistency in the last few weeks after our Scottish Cup semi-final victory over Aberdeen, where he converted in the shootout.

Palma stated: “In my career, I have had many highs and lows, but I have always been able to get up. I’m aware that I’m not at the level that I would like due to many circumstances, but I’m working day by day to reach that level that I know I can reach.”

Lost among the madness of the semi-final was a special interview aired on Celtic’s official YouTube channel, where fan favourite Emilio Izaguirre spoke to his compatriot about his time at Parkhead.

Sharing plenty of intriguing insight surrounding his journey as a professional Footballer, Palma also revealed that his favourite match since joining the Hoops was our 2-2 draw against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last October.

Scoring to put Celtic 2-1 in front against the La Liga giants, the La Ceiba-born man cited the ‘madness’ he experienced from the stands as something he will always cherish.

He stated: “I think that night against Atletico Madrid, where we were 2-2 in the Champions League, I don’t think I’ll ever forget it; the madness of the fans when they came onto the pitch was incredible.

“It was a spectacle; we could say it was the biggest crowd of any team I’ve been to; there are no words for how they motivate you.”

Parkhead is a special place on a European night, and Palma won’t be the first to have been completely taken aback by the atmosphere Celtic fans are able to create on the elite stage.

Hopefully, he can now go on to play a key role in helping his side secure a third Scottish Premiership title on the trot, which would offer the Bhoys direct entry into the new Champions League format next season.
