Rhinebeck and Red Hook will shine bright in October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Northern Dutchess Hospital invites you to ‘Light the Village Pink’ in October to honor and support those affected by breast cancer and raise funds for care in the community. Rhinebeck, N.Y., September 18, 2024 — Rhinebeck and Red Hook will glow pink this October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as Northern Dutchess Hospital hosts the fourth annual “Light the Village Pink” event to raise awareness and vital funds for its breast program.
Northern Dutchess Hospital invites businesses, schools and the community to turn on their pink lights in October to remember and support those affected by breast cancer and raise funds for local care. This year, funds will go toward the Kayla Wilson Breast Cancer Survivorship Program at Northern Dutchess Hospital.
The month-long event will kick off on Tuesday, October 1, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Foster’s Coach House Parking Lot, 6411 Montgomery Street, Rhinebeck, N.Y. Come enjoy food, music, family fun activities and the official lighting ceremony. Since its inception, “Light the Village Pink” has helped people in the community affected by breast cancer by funding essential services, including risk reduction, screenings, diagnostics, treatments and the survivorship program.
“Our survivorship program provides holistic support for patients, not just during their treatment but long after,” said Dr. Lisa D. Curcio, board-certified, fellowship-trained breast surgeon and director of the breast program at Northern Dutchess Hospital. “We want to ensure our patients receive personalized care plans that address their emotional, physical and psychological needs as they navigate life after cancer.”
“We’re delighted to mark the fourth year of this community-driven event,” said Denise George, president of Northern Dutchess Hospital. “Each year, we see more people come together to support this important cause. It’s a testament to our community’s spirit and the power of local Healthcare.... A sincere thank you to the Rhinebeck Area Chamber of Commerce, towns and villages of Rhinebeck and Red Hook, and the many generous community organizations and Nuvance Health staff who make this special, meaningful month possible.”
