A three-metre long python has been caught snacking on a currawong while dangling from a TV aerial.

Homeowners captured the shocking video after noticing the unlikely incident off their outdoor antenna in Kingscliff, south of Tweed Heads in northern New South Wales.

The snake is seen using his teeth to latch onto the bird’s head while it hangs in the air.

The python then asserts his dominance and secures his grip by firmly wrapping his body around the black and white bird.

The currawong quickly narrows in size as the python increases his strength and appears to strangle the bird.

The homeowner shared the video to Facebook group Kingscliff Happenings on Wednesday and wrote: ‘never seen this before’.

While the footage cuts off before the end of the tussle, the video owner confirmed the currawong had been eaten by the python.

‘Live action, such determination from the python to hold onto the currawong,’ she wrote on Facebook.

‘Happily eating it now on our roof, nature in your face.’

The video has been shared almost 500 times and social media viewers have tried to make light of the situation.

‘Well that is one way to get rid of those noisy currawong,’ one viewer wrote.

‘Awesome… Hate those birds more than snakes!’ wrote another.

Other viewers joked about the location of the video, writing the pair were in search of better reception.
