Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors had something of a forgettable year in 2024.

Not only did the team struggle for pretty much from start to finish, but they failed to make the playoffs altogether as well.

Now, Klay Thompson may be his way out and a dynasty that dominated the league for more than a decade appears to be in disarray.

Understandably, because of how poorly the season went, some Warriors fan began calling for Kerr to be fired.

This week, Golden State’s head coach responded to the critics.

“Hell yes, it does,” Kerr told Fox Sports when asked if bothers him that some Warriors fans are calling for his head.

That said, he tries to maintain a big picture perspective of the situation.

“I never in a million years could have imagined that my life would be in basketball and that I would achieve this kind of wealth through a game… If the price for that is for people to say I should be fired, that’s a pretty good tradeoff,” he said.

Kerr also admitted that the stars he has worked with have played a huge role in his success.

“I’m not trying to be totally modest and say I had nothing to do with it,” he continued.

“I did have something to do with it. And it made me proud. But the stars really aligned and there has to be a sense of honesty and humility. If the stars didn’t align, I could’ve gone to the [New York] Knicks and been fired after two years and never had any of these experiences. I want this to end with contentment and dignity. I want our players to feel proud.”

Next season will likely be Kerr’s last chance to right the ship. If the Warriors can’t get on the same page in 2024-25, a new face will likely be leading them the following season.
