The Chicago White Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals meet Sunday in MLB action from Busch Stadium. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this Game. Here’s a St. Louis Cardinals vs Chicago White Sox Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Chicago White Sox will start Garrett Crochet in this Game and Crochet is 1-4 with a 5.97 ERA and 47 strikeouts this season. This will be Crochet’s first career start against St. Louis. The St. Louis Cardinals did not have a starting pitcher announced at the time that this article was posted.

Chicago White Sox Recap

The Chicago White Sox come into this Game looking to build on their 6-5 extra innings win over the Cardinals on Saturday. Chicago jumped out to an early 3-0 lead but found themselves behind in the 5th before tying things up in the following inning and getting the win in the 10th to secure just their second road win of the season, giving the White Sox a chance at a series win to bounce back from being swept against the Twins to start the week.

White Sox Offense Heating Up A Bit

Gavin Sheets leads the White Sox with 25 hits and a .260 batting average along with a team-high 8 doubles while Andrew Benintendi has 3 home runs of his own along with a team-high 13 RBIs. Paul DeJong also has 3 home runs with 5 doubles while Braden Shewmake has a team-high 4 stolen bases as well this season.

Why the Chicago White Sox will win

  • Probable Starting Pitcher: Garrett Crochet Record this season: 1-4 ERA: 5.97
  • The White Sox have won nine of their last 11 road games against NL Central opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Cardinals have lost nine of their last 11 day games after playing the previous day.
  • The White Sox have covered the run line each of their last seven Sunday games against teams that held a losing record.
  • The Cardinals have failed to cover the run line in each of their last four games against American League opponents after playing the previous day.

St. Louis Cardinals Recap

The St. Louis Cardinals will try to bounce back and win the series after their loss in Saturday’s matchup, failing to capitalize on a 5-run 5th inning, ending up with the loss in the end. The Cardinals are hoping for a series win to avoid dropping back-to-back sets after losing a set with the Tigers to start the week.

Cardinals Bring Offense But Can’t Close

Nolan Arenado leads the Cardinals with 37 hits along with 8 doubles and a team-high 19 RBIs while Brendan Donovan has 18 RBIs with 7 doubles. Willson Contreras has a team-high 5 home runs along with 10 RBIs in addition to 9 doubles while Masyn Winn has a .264 batting average and 5 stolen bases. Paul Goldschmidt also has a team-high 42 strikeouts as well this season.

Why the St. Louis Cardinals will win

  • Probable Starting Pitcher: Kyle Gibson Record this season: 2-2 ERA: 3.79
  • The White Sox have lost 16 of their last 17 games against National League opponents following a win.
  • The Cardinals have won each of their last four home games against American League opponents following a loss.
  • The White Sox have failed to cover the run line in seven of their last eight games against National League opponents.
  • The Cardinals have covered the run line in each of their last four home games against American League opponents following a loss.
  • The White Sox have trailed after 5 innings in each of their last eight games against National League opponents.

St. Louis Cardinals vs Chicago White Sox Prediction

I’m on the Cardinals here. Obviously, it would be nice if we knew who the Cardinals were sending to the mound here, but I don’t think it’s a fluke or coincidence that this White Sox team has just two wins on the road this season. The offense is wildly inconsistent and any time it is consistent, it’s usually the White Sox struggling to put two and two together. Crochet was showing some signs of promise early on this season but he’s been getting hit fairly hard in a lot of his recent outings and I think the Cardinals get the win in this one.

Chris Ruffolo's Free Pick: St. Louis -182
