The Houston Astros and the Seattle Mariners meet Saturday in MLB action from T-Mobile Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this Game. Here’s a Seattle Mariners vs Houston Astros Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Houston Astros will send out Framber Valdez for the start here and Valdez is 8-5 with a 3.66 ERA and 82 strikeouts this season. In his last five starts against the Mariners, Valdez is 0-3 with a 6.49 ERA and 25 strikeouts. George Kirby will get the start for the Mariners and is 7-7 with a 3.29 ERA and 116 strikeouts this season. In his career, Kirby is 2-0 with a 1.57 ERA and 25 strikeouts against Houston.

Houston Astros Recap

The Houston Astros will be looking to pick up some momentum after a solid showing in Friday’s series opener, a welcome sight after entering the all-star break with a series loss to the rival Texas Rangers.

Astros Trying To Surge Into AL West Lead

Jose Altuve has 118 hits and a .306 batting average with 14 home runs, 44 RBIs and 18 doubles while Kyle Tucker has a team-high 19 homers with 11 doubles and 40 RBIs. Yordan Alvarez also has 19 homers with 52 RBIs and 21 doubles while Altuve has the Astros’ team lead with 15 stolen bases so far this season. Jeremy Pena also has 99 hits and a .274 batting average as well as 11 stolen bases of his own this season. Alex Bregman’s added 12 homers and 47 RBIs also.

Why the Houston Astros will win

  • The Astros have won each of their last eight road games against AL West opponents following a home loss.
  • The Mariners have lost each of their last five games as favorites against American League opponents following a loss.
  • The Astros have covered the run line in each of their last eight road games against AL West opponents following a home loss.
  • The Mariners have failed to cover the run line in each of their last nine Friday night games.

Seattle Mariners Recap

The Seattle Mariners come into this one looking to rebound after a sluggish start for the majority of Friday’s series opening matchup. The loss wasn’t ideal for a Mariners team that was entering the break slumping after a series loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

Mariners Trying To Cling To AL West Lead

Julio Rodriguez leads the Mariners with 100 hits including a .267 batting average and also has 9 doubles. Cal Raleigh has a team-high 20 home runs along with 61 RBIs and 118 strikeouts. Mitch Haniger also has 8 home runs and 34 RBIs while Rodriguez has a team-high 18 stolen bases and 110 strikeouts as well this season. Dylan Moore has a team-high 14 doubles with 17 stolen bases and Mitch Garver has 13 doubles also this season.

Why the Seattle Mariners will win

  • The Mariners have won each of their last 10 Friday home games against American League opponents.
  • The Astros have lost each of their last four night games against AL West opponents that held a winning record.
  • The Astros have failed to cover the run line each of their last four night games against AL West opponents that held a winning record.
  • The Mariners have covered the run line in five of their last six night games against the Astros at T-Mobile Park following a loss.

Seattle Mariners vs Houston Astros Prediction

I’m on the Mariners here. The Mariners didn’t look great at all for the majority of Friday’s opening Game, but if they can’t get a resounding response here, it’s going to send a message to the rest of the division that they’re falling apart and that the crown is up for grabs. Houston’s surging, but Valdez has had issues with the Mariners this season and for the better part of his career and I think this is entering must-win territory for the Mariners. Give me Seattle.
