The Detroit Tigers and the San Francisco Giants square off Saturday in MLB action from Oracle Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this Game. Here’s a San Francisco Giants vs Detroit Tigers Prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Detroit Tigers did not have a starting pitcher announced at the time that this article was posted. Logan Webb will get the start for the Giants here and is 9-8 with a 3.42 ERA and 125 strikeouts this season. This will be Webb’s second career start against Detroit.
Detroit Tigers Recap
The Detroit Tigers could use a solid showing in this series to try to get back to the .500 mark and keep their name in the race in the playoff hunt in the American League with a series at hoe against the Mariners coming up after this weekend set.
Tigers Trying To Make Up Ground In Wild Card Hunt
Going into Friday, Riley Greene leads the Tigers with 98 hits including 17 home runs and 51 RBIs along with 21 doubles, 5 triples, a .264 batting average and a .357 OBP in addition to a team-high 109 strikeouts this season. Matt Vierling also has 97 hits as well as 5 triples while Wenceel Perez has 5 triples and a team-high 9 stolen bases. Colt Keith also has 11 home runs and 42 RBIs as well this year.
San Francisco Giants Recap
The San Francisco Giants need a strong result as well to keep themselves in an air-tight NL playoff hunt, especially with a series with the Atlanta Braves coming up to start the week on Monday.
Giants Looking To Stay Afloat & Above .500
Entering Friday’s matchup, Thairo Estrada has 71 hits along with 9 home runs and 43 RBIs while also chipping in 14 doubles. Michael Conforto has 74 hits with 12 home runs, 22 doubles and 49 RBIs while Matt Chapman has 107 hits of his own alongside 30 doubles with 19 homers, 57 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. Chapman also has the dubious distinction of leading the Giants with 120 strikeouts this season. Heliot Ramos has 17 home runs and 55 RBIs as well this year.
San Francisco Giants vs Detroit Tigers Prediction
I’m on the Giants here. The offense was sluggish for the most part on Friday before showing signs of life late, but I still think the Giants can do enough here. Logan Webb’s pitched his far better baseball at home over the course of his career, and the Tigers are still not a team I’m trusting offensively right now, as the offense at times has looked borderline lifeless. I think San Francisco is the slightly better lineup right now and even without knowing who the Tigers are sending out for the start, I think Logan Webb’s still the better option. Give me the Giants.
