The Seattle Mariners and the San Diego Padres meet Wednesday in MLB action from Petco Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this Game. Here’s a San Diego Padres vs Seattle Mariners Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Seattle Mariners will start Bryce Miller in this one and Miller is 6-7 with a 3.84 ERA and 97 strikeouts this season. This will be Miller’s first career start against the Padres. Michael King will get the start for the Padres and is 7-5 with a 3.51 ERA and 120 strikeouts this season. This will be King’s first career start against the Mariners.

Seattle Mariners Recap

The Seattle Mariners will look to pick up some momentum after starting the series with an 8-3 win over San Diego in their series opener on Tuesday. The win helped put the Mariners in a spot to finally snap their series losing streak after losses to the Blue Jays, Orioles, Twins and Rays all in the last two weeks.

Mariners Looking To Right The Ship

Going into Tuesday’s opener, Julio Rodriguez leads the Mariners with 87 hits including a .247 batting average and also has 7 doubles. Cal Raleigh has a team-high 15 home runs along with 51 RBIs and 109 strikeouts. Mitch Haniger also has 8 home runs and 34 RBIs while Rodriguez has a team-high 18 stolen bases and 101 strikeouts as well this season. Dylan Moore has a team-high 14 doubles and Mitch Garver has 12 doubles also this season.

Why the Seattle Mariners will win

  • The underdogs have won six of the Padres’ last seven games.
  • The Padres have lost each of their last three games as favorites.
  • The Padres have failed to cover the run line in six of their last seven games as favorites against AL West opponents.
  • The Mariners have covered the run line in six of their last seven games against National League opponents that held a winning record.

San Diego Padres Recap

The San Diego Padres will try to bounce back after failing to show up in Tuesday’s opening matchup of the series. The loss put the Padres behind the 8-ball early as the Padres are trying to bounce back from a series loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks this past weekend.

Padres Still Fighting In NL Playoff Race

Entering Tuesday’s action, Jurickson Profar has 100 hits along with a .315 batting average and 16 doubles with 14 homers and 59 RBIs. Jake Cronenworth has 54 RBIs while Fernando Tatis Jr. has belted a team-high 14 home runs, 86 hits, 71 strikeouts and 8 stolen bases as well this season, but is out of the lineup because of injury. Manny Machado has 12 home runs and 50 RBIs but also has 75 strikeouts while Ha-Seong Kim has 71 hits with 3 triples, 12 doubles, 10 home runs, 40 RBIs and a team-high 17 stolen bases.

Why the San Diego Padres will win

  • The Mariners have lost each of their last 10 Wednesday road games against NL West opponents.
  • The Padres have won each of their last 10 games as home favorites against AL West opponents.
  • The Mariners have failed to cover the run line in eight of their last nine road games following a road win.
  • The Padres have covered the run line in eight of their last nine home games against AL West opponents that held a winning record.

San Diego Padres vs Seattle Mariners Prediction

Give me the Padres here. I think we see a lot more fight from San Diego in this one, and frankly I don’t trust the Mariners to string together solid consistent offense as this team has been a strikeout machine against right-handed pitching in recent weeks. On the other side, I think the Padres get to Bryce Miller, who has had his fair share of struggles on the road this season and the Padres have been a lot easier to trust against righties as well. Give me San Diego.

Chris Ruffolo's Free Pick: San Diego -125
