Robin van Persie shares thoughts on working with Erik ten Hag
Robin van Persie has praised Erik ten Hag after returning to Manchester United for a few days to learn from his compatriot.
Ten Hag became Man Utd's second Dutch manager ever when he took charge in the summer following a successful spell at Ajax.
After a disappointing start to life in England, ten Hag started to turn things around with his team winning eight and losing just one of their last 12 matches prior to the World Cup.
Van Persie could one day become the third Dutchman to manage the club, being popular there after leading them to the title in 2013 and currently getting his coaching badges. He's doing most of his coaching in his home country, working with the senior team and youth players at Feyenoord, his boyhood club.
However, Van Persie returned to Man Utd for a few days to learn from Ten Hag as well as first-team coach Benni McCarthy and was impressed with what he saw.
"Thanks for the warm welcome, Manchester United and Erik ten Hag," he said on social media.
"Great time back at Carrington for a trip down memory lane and to learn the ropes from one of the best coaches in modern Football."
Van Persie was the last Dutch player to really make his mark at Old Trafford and Man Utd fans will be hoping Cody Gakpo will be the next to do so. The PSV star impressed at the World Cup, getting three goals, and looks set to leave his club in January with the English side his most likely destination.
