The Miami Marlins and the Pittsburgh Pirates meet Tuesday in MLB action from PNC Park. Here’s a Pittsburgh Pirates vs Miami Marlins prediction. This will be the second installment in a three-Game series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Pirates vs Marlins pick.
Miami Marlins Betting Preview
The Marlins played the Philadelphia Phillies over the weekend. Miami lost the first pair in that set before two wins tied things up. On Monday versus Pittsburgh, the Marlins took a 3-2 loss. Starter Valente Bellozo finished with 5.1 innings and one earned run.
In the starter slot for Miami on Tuesday it’ll be Adam Oller. So far Oller is 1-2 with a 4.15 ERA in four starts. Oller is 4-11 with a 6.54 ERA in 32 Games (19 starts) over his career.
Pittsburgh Pirates Betting Preview
Over on the Pirates’ side, they took on the Washington Nationals in their last set. Pittsburgh lost both Saturday Games but otherwise took wins 9-4 and 7-3 to tie the series. In the Monday Game the Pirates posted all three runs in the first two innings. Paul Skenes finished with 6.0 innings and one earned run as starter.
As starter for Tuesday Pittsburgh is going with Carmen Mlodzinski. So far this year Mlodzinski is 2-5 with a 3.73 ERA in 31 Games (three starts).
Why the Miami Marlins will win
- The Marlins have won each of their last four road games following a loss.
- The Pirates have lost four of their last five home games against the Marlins following a win.
- The Pirates have failed to cover the run line in each of their last eight home games against National League opponents following a home win.
- The road team has covered the run line in each of the last five games between the Marlins and Pirates.
- The Pirates have trailed after 5 innings in each of their last five Tuesday home games.
Total Runs Facts
- Ten of the Marlins’ last 11 night games against NL Central opponents have gone OVER the total runs line.
- Five of the Pirates’ last six home games after playing the previous day have gone OVER the total runs line.
- The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Marlins’ last five games.
- The ‘Inning 1 OVER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the Pirates’ last four night games.
Pittsburgh Pirates vs Miami Marlins Prediction
I might try the Marlins here. So long as Oller can recover from his last outing, that is. He took a loss to Philly on September 5 with 5.1 innings and four earned runs. In his two prior appearances however, Oller posted just one earned in 11.2 innings, going 1-0 in that pair.
On Monday the Marlins had a few decent offensive performances but it was pretty erratic at the plate overall. That said, if Miami can get a good pitching effort again Tuesday they’ll have a decent shot at a win.
