The Chicago White Sox and the Philadelphia Phillies meet Sunday in MLB action from Citizens Bank Park. Here’s a White Sox vs Phillies prediction. This will be the final installment in a three-Game weekend series. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for the Game.

Chicago White Sox Betting Preview

The Sox didn’t have much luck versus the Kansas City Royals in their last series, losing two of three Games. Chicago fell again 7-0 on Friday versus Philly, then on Saturday the White Sox were out-hit 12-7 in a 9-5 loss. Michael Soroka put up 4.2 innings in the start, giving up five earned on six hits and three walks.

For the Sunday finale starting pitcher role, the White Sox will send out Nick Nastrini. In his lone start this year (the first of his career), Nastrini went 5.0 innings with two earned runs, three hits, two walks and five Ks.

Philadelphia Phillies Betting Preview

Over on the Phillies’ side, they were able to sweep the Colorado Rockies in their last set before the blowout win on Friday. In Game two Philadelphia got a homer and two RBI from Brandon Marsh. Both Nick Castellanos (three hits; two runs) and Trea Turner (two hits; run) had a pair of RBI each as well.

It’ll be Aaron Nola in the starting pitcher role for the Phillies on Sunday. In four starts so far Nola is 2-1 with a 3.47 ERA and 19 Ks in 23.1 innings. Nola is 92-72 in his career with a 3.72 ERA in 239 total starts.

Philadelphia Phillies Team Facts

  • The Phillies have won 11 of their last 12 home games against teams that held a losing record.
  • The Phillies have covered the run line seven of their last eight day games against AL Central opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Phillies have led after 3 innings in each of their last five games against opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Phillies have led after 5 innings in each of their last four games.
  • The Phillies have led after 7 innings in each of their last seven games against American League opponents that held a losing record.

Chicago White Sox Team Facts

  • The White Sox have covered the run line in each of their last eight Sunday road games against National League opponents.
  • The ‘Inning 1 UNDER 0.5 runs’ market has hit in each of the White Sox’s last seven day games.
  • The White Sox have trailed after 3 innings in each of their last five games against National League opponents.
  • The White Sox have trailed after 5 innings in each of their last five games against National League opponents.

White Sox vs Phillies Prediction

I’ll stay with the Phillies here. Realistically the line’s too thick to mess with, however. Nola is pitching well over his last three starts. He’s 2-0 in that trio with three earned runs on nine hits and eight walks in 19.0 total innings. As for Nastrini, he didn’t do too badly in his debut on April 15 but ended up taking a loss in a 2-0 finish versus the Royals.

On Saturday the Phillies really only had the one bad inning as Ricardo Pinto surrendered five earned on five hits and two walks in 0.2 frames. Otherwise it was a great all-around effort and I like Philly to keep it up in the finale. You wouldn’t be crazy for taking the Sox as a value play, though.
